Partially reclaimed
Reclamation description
The Koblov spoil heap was completely reclaimed in the past. In previous years, the crown was leveled off, graded flat, covered with soil, and used for agricultural purposes. Currently, it is overgrown with grasses, and the field lies fallow. The steep slopes of the spoil heap are covered with woody vegetation (trees/shrubs); the southeastern slope is noticeably terraced.

History description
The Koblov spoil heap was used for depositing coal waste rock from the opening-up (development) works of the then Vítězný únor Mine, which, after the connection of the Eduard Urx and Koblov plants in 1960, intensified its production of waste rock. The establishment of the spoil heap dates to 1960. Waste rock was deposited at the site until 1967. After that, the waste rock was dumped into a blind (oxbow) branch of the Odra River, where it was subsequently covered with agricultural soil. After 1970, waste rock was deposited into the subsidence basin north of the spoil heap, beyond the road to Antošovice. The Koblov spoil heap was reclaimed in the 1980s. The slopes were greened through planting, and the crown of the spoil heap was reclaimed for agricultural purposes. The crown was farmed agriculturally until 1997.

Material composition
The coal waste rock at the Koblov spoil heap contains a variable amount of coal matter, either disseminated or deposited in thin layers/laminae. Coal of the Hrušov beds of the Ostrava Formation predominates here. The coal waste rock deposited at the Koblov spoil heap was not affected by thermal activity. The grain size of the unburnt coal waste rock at the spoil heap reaches up to 300 mm, and locally even larger. In the area of the former field on the crown of the spoil heap, mine waste rock does not occur; however, on the steep slopes, largely without grass and shrub cover, mine waste rock is exposed at the surface. This consists mainly of gray to grayish-black siltstones and claystones with varying amounts of coal matter. Coal waste rock was not mined/extracted at the Koblov spoil heap in the past, and no laboratory tests of the physical-mechanical properties of the waste rock have been carried out here.

Thermal activity status
Potentially thermally active
Thermal activity description
No thermal activity has been observed at the Koblov spoil heap throughout its existence. Atmogeochemical measurements demonstrated a certain probability of incomplete oxidative endogenous processes at the spoil heap. Elevated CO values in two probes (S4–17 ppm, S5–34 ppm) from 2010 may have documented subsiding thermal processes within the body of the spoil heap. Thermal measurements in 2010 showed a temperature (13.8–15.0°C) at a depth of 1 m below the ground surface, which corresponds to normal background temperature. Despite the elevated content of combustible substances in the coal waste rock (up to 18.36%), the risk of the development of thermal activity is low (Kresta – Hájovský 2011). No manifestations of thermal activity were found at the Koblov spoil heap in August 2020.

Recommendations - testing
Basic tests of coal waste rock are recommended, including determination of loss on ignition.
Recommendations - monitoring
A one-time (single) stage of thermal monitoring using aerial imaging/surveying is recommended.
Remediation proposal
Remediation of the Koblov spoil heap was carried out in the 1980s.
